Human Resources: Respectful Workplace & Accommodations

This training is designed to support employers in building a culture of respect within their organizations.  Using a mix of interactive discussion and lecture formats, this session ensures a baseline understanding of anti-harassment and discrimination legislation and accommodation requirements. Day 1: Participants will learn the legislative requirements (including Bill C-65 legislation) regarding Harassment & Violence Prevention in the workplace, the rights and responsibilities of employers and employees, and what disrespectful or harassing behaviour looks like.  They will also learn about the impacts of this behaviour, and how to address it productively.  Processes for reporting, managing and investigating incidents related to Workplace Harassment & Violence will also be discussed. Day 2: Participants will learn how to ensure they are not discriminating against any employees, based on prohibited grounds and related accommodation needs.  We will discuss the employer’s duty to accommodate—required by both federal and provincial Human Rights Commissions—and allow for changes to either how things are done, or to the physical work environment.
