Human Resources: Mental Health & Accommodation

Registration Deadline: Jan 22, 2025
Often when we speak about Mental Health, we tend to focus on the discussions around mental disorders and mental health problems. While it is important to understand and talk about this, it may not speak to how mental health challenges may show up in the workplace. Training will focus on what you can do on a day-to-day basis to support your employee’s mental health and how to recognize the signs that there may be concerns. Participants will learn the legislative requirements surrounding accommodations, what roles employees and employers play in the accommodation process, and how to work through difficult conversations. Participants will also be provided with:
  • The knowledge and understanding of mental health relevance to the workplace.
  • Effective strategies to maintain your own positive sense of wellbeing and decreasing the stigma of poor mental health.
  • How to help employees become productive team members.
  • What accommodation means and the legislative requirements around the ‘Duty to Accommodate’
  • The knowledge to ensure you are not discriminating against any employees, based on prohibited grounds, under Human Rights.
